Dr. Johnson believes a therapeutic relationship based on empathy and trust is paramount to helping clients achieve their goals. Within the safety of an affirming and accepting therapeutic relationship, he works collaboratively with clients, partnering with them on their journey as they navigate their way toward eudaimonic well-being.
Dr. Johnson is a huge advocate for self-care, as this is one of the many ways to experience eudaimonic well-being. His self-care activities include spending time with loved ones, baking, traveling, and watching movies, most notably horror films to commemorate his perennial love for Halloween.
Other than it being easier to say and spell, EDM was carefully chosen as the abbreviation for eudaimonia as listening to electronic dance music (EDM) is another one of the ways Dr. Johnson self-cares. Music is known to be the great connector, enabling us to deeply connect to the music and with others and propelling us on our own emotional journey. EDM, then, is not only integral to the practice but also to who Dr. Johnson is as a person.
